Spell list

Other than the AR/DR values and hi/mid/lo categories, do spells have other attributes? E.g., +% against traps or +% against sticks and stones, etc.? If so, is there a list of them anywhere? If not, then I don't see the value in purchasing such expensive items when for much less you can get so much more AR/DR from weapons and armor.

You are pretty much correct there Grift. Spells are one of the last things that you want to be concerned about until you have maxxed out your weapons and armor.

Early on, you will actually benefit more from your Double Fanucci card rating than you will from weapons and armor as you pretty much get the cards for free (other than spending your AP on exploring).

thanks for the quick reply! i've got 100 gambit on one character (and 82 on another) so I guess I'll start spending my arena earning on gear.

Here's a breakdown of the max AR/DR ratings:

Maximize your DF score to 100:
AR = 500 / DR = 500

Buy the most expensive weapon (Currently the Masterwork Easter items) add +700 to your AR:
AR = 1200 / DR = 500

Buy the most expensive armor items (Currently the Masterwork Easter items and the Frostham Steel Defender Helm) add +550 and +100 respectively for +650 DR total:
AR = 1200 / DR = 1150

Buy the most expensive spells for attack and defense (Currently the Empowered Easter spells) add +275 AR and +275 DR total:
AR = 1475 / DR = 1425

This is currently the highest AR/DR rating possible in the game and will cost you just over 14 million Zorkmids, minus any discounts you qualify for at the store.

wow, that's a lot of zm to gather, guess that's why you all go for the arena to get them quick.

RoYALe, you've got a higher AR/DR rating than I do, and I can still find about 40-50 easy targets in the arena. I'll send you some links if you want, just send me a PM and let me know how many victims......errrr targets.....that you would like

Yea Roy, There are a lot of weaker characters who only adventure, you just have to find them. I kind of feel bad for attacking them, but I'm only a couple of million away from maxing out.

Yeah I've been searching them out... but there's not many of them in the arena.

34s not bad for targets, but it is where they start to drop off. I'm at 33 and 8/10 targets are much weaker than me.

I'm only level 15 so I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but right now as long as I do the work and search out players, there's more than enough people to decimate.

What level should I adventure up to before it makes good economic sense to grind zm's in the arena again?

If you are just looking for ZMs it is best to be around level 32 after getting some decent weapons and a full gambit. You will pull in good zorkmid hauls each day and an accountant sidekick will give you a nice chunk of interest every day.

I started running into trouble at 34, too. I had to cash in some of my seed money to bump my defense. I haven't maxed my gear yet, but I was bumped enough to stay off the hit list for a while. I do have to screen who I attack a little more carefully. There were a few surprise losses in the beginning.
