Attack and Defense Stances Empty
PostSubject: Attack and Defense Stances   Attack and Defense Stances I_icon_minitimeWed May 19, 2010 4:02 pm

These are the three attack stances:
1. Sticks & Stones
You use anything to get that edge. From an Elven sword to a broken bottle, you like to have that little something extra when you strike.
2. Bows and Bullets
A real marksman, you strike your enemies with all the firepower you can get.
3. Fists & Feet
Give 'em the old one-two and they'll never know what hit 'em.

These are the three defence stances:
1. Walking Tank
You like to feel safe as you wander the wilds of Quendor Really safe. It might make you a little slower, but who cares when you have a three-inch thick breastplate over a leather shirt and a big shield?
2. Mumbo Jumbo
Spells, scrolls, potions, wands, wards, charms. You'll use anything to protect yourself from harm.
3. Dodge & Weave
You move fast and stay light on your feet. Speed is your defense.

Sticks and Stones > Dodge and Weave > Bows and Bullets > Walking Tank > Fists and Feet > Mumbo Jumbo > Sticks and Stones

Each attack stance has a defense stance it is strong against (+3% FWP), it is weak against (-3% FWP), and it is neutral against (+0% FWP). The same applies to defense stance with respect to attack stance.

Example:
You attack an ogre. You are wielding a toy sword (Sticks and Stones) and soft hunting leather (Dodge and Weave). The ogre usually uses the Sticks and Stones and Mumbo Jumbo stances.

You attack the ogre (Sticks and Stones attacking Mumbo Jumbo) - Result: -3% FWP
You defend against the ogre (Dodge and Weave defending against Sticks and Stones) - Result: -3% FWP

This results in a preventable -6% FWP disadvantage that could have been a +6% FWP advantage.

Discovering what types of stances mobs have in a particular area could help increase your chances of victory!

The same advantages and disadvantages apply in Arena combat.

See the FWP Battle Primer for more details.

Hope this helps you!
